Adam Lallana admits he is making encouraging progress in his recovery from injury ahead of two defining games in Liverpool’s campaign.

The midfielder is currently nursing an injury that has seen him sidelined since the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of March.

His most recent problem followed up a three-month layoff over the first half of the season as a result of a hamstring injury he picked up during pre-season.

Lallana is now battling to get himself fit for Liverpool’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev at the end of the month.

“I’m getting there. I’ve been back in training a week or so now, so that’s positive that I’m out on the grass,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We’ve got two massive games now as a team so [I’ll be happy] if I can contribute anything, just a small per cent to the lads bringing home the trophy and the top four.”

It promises to be a tough task dislodging Liverpool’s current starters even if Lallana is able to recover in time to play a role before the end of the season.

His availability alone, however, would be a welcomed boost in the Reds’ effort to maintain their press and intensity against Zinedine Zidane’s reigning European champions.

The opportunity to utilise his unrelenting work rate and aggression from the front could prove integral given Jurgen Klopp’s current shortage of game-influencing options on the bench.

Lallana not only poses as a fresh ball retriever, but also a capable distributor with the vision to hurt Madrid on the counter late on.
