One of the world’s most renowned central defenders thinks Liverpool have bought a very good player in Fabinho.
Thiago Silva knows our new 24-year-old well from both the Brazilian national squad and Ligue 1, where they’ve been rivals for PSG and AS Monaco respectively.

Amazing stat sums up Fabinho’s brilliance
“He is really smart, a really technical player and I am sure he will get adapted to the Premier League as soon as he arrives here,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“He changed his position in Monaco. He was a right-back and now he is a midfielder. I don’t know how Liverpool are thinking about using him, but I am sure they can use him in both.”
We’re pretty convinced Fabinho will be primarily used as a no.6, as a direct replacement for Emre Can.
Liverpool are very well stocked at right-back already, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ever improving, Nathaniel Clyne an England international and Joe Gomez decent there as well.
Jurgen Klopp picks Jordan Henderson as his first-choice holding midfielder at the moment, so it will be interesting to see how the captain’s role changes now Fabinho is on the books.
Either way, it’s a nice problem for the boss to have.
