But fair play – he’s given his genuine opinion of the Fabinho transfer – which came out of nowhere last week.
Liverpool acquired the Brazilian, despite him being regularly linked to United for over a year – and Castles thinks it’s an incredible deal.
“This is one of the most impressive transfers I have seen from an English club,” he told the Transfer Talk podcast, cited by The Sport Review.
“It will make a huge difference to Liverpool. Their midfielders have a limitation on their ability or passing ability.
“Fabinho is tall, strong in the air, he scores goals. They have immediately given him a seven or eight points advantage in the title race next year.”
Fans are currently so worried about Nabil Fekir and a new goalkeeper, that we’ve almost forgotten about how exciting the ‘Fabinho out of nowhere’ deal actually was!
At 24, he has all the attributes, in terms of physicality and technique, that our midfield’s been lacking.
With Naby Keita also signing, Liverpool’s midfield for 2018/19 looks far more promising.
It lacked creativity and bite this season just gone – but the two arrivals we’ve already confirmed should fix this on their own.
