Liverpool will likely sign Xherdan Shaqiri before July is up.
That’s according to John Percy of the Telegraph, anyway, who says talks have began between our transfer honcho Michael Edwards, Stoke and the player’s representatives.

The Switzerland international enjoyed a decent World Cup, before being knocked out in the last 16 by Sweden – and will now focus on getting a move away from Stoke City – who were relegated at the end of last season.
Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke over a deal for Xherdan Shaqiri, who has a release clause over £13m. Expect it to be sorted this month #lfc #scfc

As Percy mentions, the £13m release-clause makes Shaqiri a decent squad option.
Acquiring an international, who’s just 26-years-old, with Premier League, Bundesliga and Champions League experience, for that kind of money, is smart business.
Shaqiri can play out on the right, as a no.10 or even on the left, so he’ll be a strong, versatile option for our bench should a deal get finalised.
We can’t imagine this one will be too difficult to conclude and have no issue with it, providing we purchase an elite creator as well.
