There was a slightly odd moment in last night’s friendly win over Tranmere that didn’t fit in very well with the essence of the rest of the game.
After Loris Karius’s mistake that saw Liverpool concede our first goal of the match, an opposition player visibly taunted our keeper while celebrating with the goalscorer.
‘You’re fucking shite,’ he says, before the camera pans back to the forlorn looking German, whose confidence is clearly in the doldrums.

Karius conceded again, but Liverpool eventually won 3-2.
Despite this, and the fact that Fabinho and Naby Keita enjoyed promising performances during their 45 minute cameos, all any Red is talking about today is Karius’s mistakes.
The fact it’s still a discussion point proves to us that the pressure on the 24-year-old is just too great.
For his own benefit, and ours, the club need to act.
We have less than a month to bring in a keeper, but anybody half decent will do at this stage.
It would be mindless to begin the season with Karius between the sticks.
