And following the game, which sees a country with a population of just 4 million into the final, Lovren proclaimed that he’s one of the best defenders on the planet and deserves recognition as just that.
That takes some balls – and we rate him for it.
If he can transfer his form from the end of last season and the World Cup into 2018/19, we’ll have one of the best defensive pairings in Europe, considering Virgil van Dijk is already an automatic starter.
