Liverpool fan Sean Cox has reportedly woken from his induced coma three months after being brutally attacked outside Anfield.
The father-of-three was the victim of a violent assault prior to Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma on April 24.
Cox has been receiving full-time care at Beaumont Hospital back home in Ireland since May and is now undergoing rehabilitation after regaining consciousness, according to electrical industry website Electric.ie.
The statement reads: “Recovery is progressing positively but very slowly.”
“His colleagues in Precision Cables are overwhelmed by the support and good wishes for Séan and his family that they receive on a daily basis.”
“They would like once again to ask that you keep him in your prayers and that he will continue on his road to recovery.”
21-year-old Filippo Lombardi has pleaded not guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm, whilst 29-year-old Daniele Sciusco has admitted violent disorder.

An incredible show of support for Cox and his family during this difficult time has seen over €90,000 raised for medical fees.
Tributes have been paid to Sean both on and off the pitch, with the Reds holding a banner in his honour after their Champions League semi-final second-leg against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
The flag, reading “Sean Cox – You’ll Never Walk Alone”, was created by Peter Carney, who was joined by Spirit of Shankly’s Stephen Monaghan in travelling to Ireland to present it as a gift to Sean’s family.
We wish Sean all the very best as he continues his recovery.
