Andrew Robertson looks set to be next in line to see his stunning form warrant a long-term commitment to his services from Liverpool.

The left-back has been outstanding since breaking into the starting line up last December, having endured a slow start to his Anfield career as understudy to Alberto Moreno.

Injury to his teammate subsequently handed Robertson an opportunity to vie for an extended run in the team, which he grasped at in admirable fashion.

The Scotsman has since looked impossible to dislodge from the starting eleven, playing a starring role in Liverpool’s defensive improvement on route to a top-four finish and Champions League final.

Robertson picked up where he left off on Saturday with a familiar all-action performance in the opening day Premier League win at home to West Ham.

Liverpool now plan to reward Robertson by doubling his wages beyond £60,000-a-week with a new long-term contract, reports the Mirror’s Tom Hopkinson.

Robertson not only proved a vital addition amid Jurgen Klopp’s bid to strengthen at the back, but also emerged as an inspired attacking outlet in the final-third.

The £10million signing registered five assists and scored once in the Premier League last season as he displayed an constant willingness to support the Reds’ front three.

A desire to get forward was crucially matched by a crisp and reliable delivery once in and around the opposition penalty area.

His lasting impression in his debut campaign also entailed a fine partnership with Sadio Mane, with his overlapping runs granting the forward the freedom to move central at times.

Liverpool’s new no.10 is, too, expected to be offered a new deal at the club on the back of his season-high tally of 20-goals across all competitions.
