Dele Alli won’t play for England against Switzerland tonight, but should be ok for Tottenham’s fixture with Liverpool at the weekend, reports Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has a slight injury, but has been sent home by Gareth Southgate upon Spurs’ wishes.

“Alli has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but Tuesday’s game will come too quickly,” Southgate said.

This kind of thing seems to be happening an awful lot.

Manchester City have a plethora of stars not on international duty, including all of their Brazilians and Raheem Sterling, whose back problem will not be enough to keep him out of club duty, but got him sent home from England.

We don’t really begrudge our rivals doing this; and actually, we’d encourage Liverpool to be a little slyer!

Thankfully the only injury we’ve picked up during the international break has been Adam Lallana, who is no longer a starter anyway.

Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri should all play tonight though, so we’ll be watching from behind the sofa.
