Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey says Mo Salah should be handed a two-match ban because he felt the Egyptian dived to win a penalty in the win over Newcastle.
Salah went down easily under contact from the Newcastle defender but was pulled back, leading Graham Scott to award the foul. He then got up to convert from the spot for his 12th league goal of the season.
Halsey, though, was fuming, and predictably most of the people who agreed with him support Everton.
Yes, Halsey sided with the same Sean Dyche that thinks it’s perfectly fine for his players to kick lumps out of opposition players.

Despite there being little precedent for banning players for dives, Halsey made the claim towards the end of the match.
The fact that Salah went down under contact means it certainly wasn’t a dive, although he did go down easily.
Nevertheless, the amount of times he has been denied a spot-kick despite being hacked down since the Reds last won a penalty at Anfield about two years ago means he was due one.
There is no suggestion that Salah will be banned – and rightly so. Halsey has massively overreacted.
