Everton fans were left divided when asked what their preferred outcome would be from their clash with Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
Defeat at Goodison Park would allow Manchester City to move into first place in the Premier League on goal difference – ahead of Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
Rather than see their own side record what would be a superb victory over the reigning champions, some Toffees admitted they are prepared to lose in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s men suffering another setback.
Others, more admirably, insisted they would never back against their own team, with one Evertonian even suggesting he wanted Liverpool to beat City to the title.
Here is the excellent work of the Liverpool Echo as they took to the streets to get the views of fans…

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Everton manager Marco Silva was of the strong belief fans would want nothing but three points against Pep Guardiola’s men.
He told reporters: “We know our fight, and for sure what our fans want for tomorrow is to win the game, that’s the most important thing.”
Reds could never begin to imagine ever wanting Liverpool to lose a game, regardless of how it may help or hinder their rivals. Your team comes first, that’s final.
