Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac has paid Liverpool a huge compliment following his side’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of our superb Reds.
The Croatian told Sky Sports Germany that Jurgen Klopp’s team were the rightful winners, after what was actually a pretty comfortable 90 minutes.
“I have to congratulate Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool,” he said. “They were clearly the better side over the two games.”
Klopp was over the moon, naturalIy, especially considering his long-standing rivalry with the German giants:
“It’s a big, big, big step for us (to win here). We have set a mark for LFC that this wonderful club is really at the top of the landscape of European football. Tonight we proved it a little bit.”
The Reds now march on to the quarter finals of the Champions League. We could face Manchester City, Manchester United, Spurs, Juventus, Ajax, Porto or Barcelona in the next round.
We asked you which of the non-English clubs you’d like to get – and this is what you said:
The majority of people voting clearly want us to take another trip to Portugal!
We can’t blame them; last season we dominated Porto over two legs, including a rampant 5-0 away win.
The Reds march on in Europe! Allez! Allez! Allez!
