Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has spoken out about the Premier League title race with Liverpool.
The Reds and the Citizens have been neck and neck for pretty much the entire season – and it looks as if it’s going to go down the wire.
“The title is in our hands at the moment. We came from seven points behind to move ahead of Liverpool,”, the German midfielder told Turkish outlet Fanatik.
“I think they’ve been extremely lucky in the past few months, they scored lots of late goals recently. If we win the remaining six games, we will be champions – that’s a fact.”
Jurgen Klopp’s men are up against Chelsea this weekend in what is probably Liverpool’s most difficult remaining fixture.
Should we turnover the Londoners, we’ll have only Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Newcastle United and Wolverhaptom Wanderers remaining until the conclusion of the season.
Our title rivals City still have to play out games against Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Man United, Burnley and Leicester City. The race for Premier League glory is coming to a close.
Gundogan was asked about the possibility of winning the Champipons League, and a possible quadruple. “Right now, both Manchester City and me have the same target,” he said.
“Of course, one day we will win the Champions League – we see this as an achievable goal.”
