Why would you start picking on a player who’s just scored the crucial winning goal in a Champions League Final?!
We wouldn’t, but Andrea Pirlo would!
The legendary former AC Milan, Juventus and Italy midfielder went in on Divock Origi after Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Saturday night – criticising the Belgian’s on-field attitude despite the late left-footed effort.
“Origi? He came in badly, if he hadn’t have had scored, he would have been beaten. His was not a Champions League final attitude, I really didn’t like it,” Pirlo told Sky Italy.
Origi wasn’t incredible when he came on, but he did what needed to be done!
Besides, we’re not sure the forward will worry too much about Pirlo’s comments, considering he’s just cemented himself as a Liverpool legend for eternity.
Whatever happens throughout Origi’s career, nobody will be able to take his goal from Madrid away from him.
Hopefully Liverpool will offer the striker a new contract, as his current deal expires in 2020.
Off the bench, he’s a valuable asset and we’d like to see him at Liverpool for the foreseeable future.
After all, can he really leave the club after winning us a Champions League?!
He’s not going to be an automatic starter, but his ability to turn up and produce in the big moments is going to be key.
