Reds man a step closer to big-money exit with latest transfer development

Dejan Lovren is edging closer towards a Liverpool exit, according to Football Insider, with the Croatian having now agreed personal terms with AC Milan.

Lovren turns 30 next month and he only has two years left on his current deal, and while there is no reason for Jurgen Klopp to usher him out of the door, if Milan make a substantial bid, it might be too good to turn down.

Reds linked with move for bargain £30 million star – and simply must make a move

Paul Joyce reported earlier in the week that it would take an offer of around £25 million to tempt the Reds into selling, and if Milan have indeed agreed terms with the player, then they must be willing to match that asking price.

The Reds would then be forced to dip into the transfer market for a defender, but that would be no problem – the club always has a plan in case any player decides to move on or has a long-term injury.

As well as Lovren has done in the latter stages of his Reds career, replacing an ageing and injury prone player who is nearly in his 30s with someone younger and more reliable could be a decent move. He’s rarely strung together a long line of appearances and always has some sort of minor knock or illness.

It was telling that just a few hours after a switch to Milan was first mooted, a price-tag was revealed to the media by the club – this one might just have legs.
