Together with rumoured target, Dani Ceballos, the Reds seem to be after his Spain U21 teammate, Dani Olmo, who scored a delicate chip as La Rojita beat Germany 2-1 in the UEFA Under-21 Euro final.
According to Croatian outlet, Sportske Novosti, the 21-year-old forward is the subject of a great deal of interest after starring for Spain’s young European winners, with the Reds listed as one admirer among many.
Olmo made a brave move from Barcelona’s La Masia academy to join Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. He was crowned the league’s best player and best young player of the 2019 season after 12 goals and nine assists in the Croatian First Football League
While three goals and two assists in six appearances during Spain’s victorious UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign has further added to his sparkling reputation.
The Sportske Novosti report mentions Manchester United and a figure of €40 million for the exciting youngster, while a talkSPORT article from September 2018 shows the Reds have possibly held a long-standing interest in Olmo.
Were the Reds to go for Olmo, they could potentially frustrate United in the process as an added bonus.
Time will tell if Jürgen Klopp sees fit to engage Zagreb in official discussions for Olmo, but with Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal also interested, plus Bundesliga outfits, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen, the Reds will face stiff competition if they want him.
