Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus has been talking up Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the Reds’ pre-season friendly with Die Borussen this weekend.
The German star has previous with the Reds’ boss as they worked together at Dortmund a few years ago when they managed to usurp Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title.
Klopp is a demanding manager – that’s plain to see when you look at how athletic the current crop of Liverpool players are, and how they’re seemingly able to run other teams into the ground with relative ease.
It’s a big part of why Dortmund were so successful, and now the Reds are reaping the benefits. Reus has been waxing lyrical about his former manager ahead of this weekend’s game.
“Oh my god, Jurgen was such an animal. You only knew somebody like him from TV,” he told DAZN via Goal.
“If Jurgen sits in front of you with his aura, with his aggressiveness, which he radiates even when speaking, with his size, then that is quite impressive. Even the way he talks to you – this is rarely the case in professional business.
“He pulls you under his spell and will not let you go. I left the conversation with a fluttering heart. He was definitely one of the reasons why I signed for Dortmund.“
It’s great to hear one of Klopp’s former players with nothing but nice things to say about the man. Personally, I’m all over Reus admitting that the boss is one of the reasons why he signed for Dortmund.
