Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has received special treatment ahead of the Reds’ next pre-season game in the US heat.
The former Arsenal man walked out on the turf at Liverpool’s training camp is Boston without his boots to work on a separate training programme, as per the Liverpool Echo.
Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana and Bobby Duncan have all sustained minor injuries and didn’t partake in the training session.
Players who have featured heavily so far, such as Fabinho, James Milner, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Yasser Larouci, Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Divock Origi, also trained away from the rest of the bulk of the squad.
The heat has played a part in the American leg of the pre-season tour, and it was clear when the Reds took on Borussia Dortmund and looked as if they’d the entire summer before that sat on a lounge chair.
According to the same report by the Echo, these different training schedules don’t mean that anyone is unavailable for the Reds’ next game, but rather make sure that they’re all appropriately ready.
This is especially good to hear after the performance some of the players put in at Notre Dame – they were finished at half-time, and were unable to adapt well to the high temperatures.
