Timo Werner’s name has been all over the gossip columns for what seems like forever, but even though he signed a new deal with RB Leipzig this week, the stories are going nowhere.
Earlier in the week, we reported that he has a very low release clause inserted into his new contract, designed to at least give the Bundesliga side some money when they lose their star man, rather than having him depart on a free.
Now, more details have emerged, with Sport Bild, the German outlet, reporting that if he does leave Leipzig, and does not remain in Germany, the Reds, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only places he would go.
Bayern Munich usually snap up as much talent from the rest of the Bundesliga as they can, so they are probably still the favourites for Werner’s signature.
For the Reds to be named as a potential destination, however, given the other names in the mix, shows just where the club is at right now. He’ll leave Leipzig sooner rather than later, and it will be very interesting to see where he goes.
