Bobby Duncan is set to sign for Fiorentina today for a fee of €2 million, with the Reds having also negotiated a sell-on clause of 20%.
Even though he only has one year left on his Reds contract and has never made a competitive first-team appearance, Duncan is incredibly highly-rated and the fee seems very small.
The striker netted 32 times last season, his first with the club, but made it clear last week that he wanted to leave the club.
He was left out of the U23s trip to Southampton a week ago, before it then emerged via his agent that he was unhappy with sporting director Michael Edwards, who he claimed bullied him and damaged his mental health.
The Reds denied the claims through an official statement, but it seems that Duncan has got his wish of a move before the Italian transfer window closes this evening.
It’s not long ago that Duncan was playing for the senior team during pre-season, and he is a Reds fan who only made what should have been the dream move to Anfield 12 months ago. It’s a shame that he will be departing, but after last week, that was probably always likely.
