Gini Wijnaldum had a great game for the Netherlands against Germany last night, as Ronald Koeman’s side won 2-4 against Joshua Kimmich, Toni Kroos, Timo Werner and co.
He produced a lovely assist to set up his side’s third goal, converted by Donyell Malen (watch that by clicking here), before adding a goal to his name in stoppage time to further extend the lead (watch the goal here).

Wijnaldum was playing in a more advanced role than the one he occupies for the Reds, and he was very impressive. Jurgen Klopp doesn’t appear to be keen on playing him there, though, preferring to use his box-to-box abilities in a more defensive position.
Reds fans were quick to react to his showing on Twitter during and after the game.
I'm so happy that Netherland defeated Germany.
Wijnaldum is way underrated!#GERNED— Anambra 1st son💭 (@UchePOkoye) September 6, 2019

Georginio Wijnaldum is a world class player. He thrives in a more attacking role for Netherlands but he's just as good playing as the link for Liverpool. The guy just doesn't get the credit and recognition he deserves. #LFC

Playing Wijnaldum further up the pitch could be an option for some games, but the Reds do not play with a number 10, so moving him forward is not likely to happen very often.
Given his international performances, though, it should certainly be something being considered.
