Liverpool have made contact with the representatives of Borrusia Monchengladbach’s Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria, reports Sky Germany, translated by the Mirror.
The 22-year-old anchorman has been a cornerstone for the Germans so far this season and has been earning rave reviews for his Bundesliga performances.
If the report is to be believed, perhaps Liverpool are looking for a genuine backup option to Fabinho – who is completely essential to our midfield now – with Jordan Henderson used in one of the roaming no.8 positions instead.
Below, we’ve embedded a video of Zakaria from the 17/18 season (it was the best one out there to show off his attributes).
What he does very well for a holding player is break lines with dribbles – much like our Brazilian. He’s physically imposing as well, standing at 6ft.2′ and clearly possessed with speed.
We like what we see – but will wait to hear from better placed sources to see if our interest is genuine.
