Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira was hounded online after sending out what appears to be a celebratory tweet following his side’s defeat to Liverpool.
In one of the most hectic games of football we’ve ever seen, Liverpool won the penalty shootout 5-4 after a 5-5 draw after 90 minutes.
The Uruguayan midfielder’s tweet though shows him celebrating his goal manically, along with the caption, #ComeOnGunners – which seems a little self-obsessed following a match his team literally lost!
Perhaps he stopped watching before Divock Origi’s late equaliser, and just thought a friendly shootout was part and parcel of the EFL Cup…?!

Despite the odd social media behaviour, Torreira had a good game and probably got the better of Liverpool’s midfielders, for the most past.
But Origi’s late heroics and nerves of steel from everyone in the penalty shootout got us over the line.
Not that we know if we’ll even compete in the next round, if Jurgen Klopp’s comments after the game are anything to go by!
