David Ornstein has confirmed that Xabi Alonso has yet to make a firm decision on his managerial future.
This comes amid ongoing links with Bundesliga competitor Bayern Munich and another former club in Liverpool.
“Bayern are going all out for Alonso but I’m not aware of any firm decisions being made by him,” the Athletic reporter wrote in his latest Ask Ornstein.
“He may be leaning in one direction but that doesn’t mean it can’t change. That’s why Bayern, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen will be exploring their options.
“There will be other teams across Europe embarking upon managerial and sporting director changes this summer, too, so there are moving parts and repercussions all over the place.”
Both Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp have agreed their departures from their respective clubs this summer.

You’re unlikely to hear Alonso’s decision soon…
Bayer Leverkusen, nicknamed ‘Neverkusen’ in their native Germany, have the chance to make history this term.
A first Bundesliga title for the club would represent a seismic achievement – potentially comparable, some might say, to the achievements of Klopp during his tenure in the German top-flight.
As such, you can hardly blame Alonso for committing his full focus to the cause at the North Rhine-Westphalia-based side.
Don’t expect his attention to shift in the meantime!
