Liverpool learn Chelsea stance on Levi Colwill amid Sky Sports journo’s ‘initial talks’ claim

Posted by

Liverpool would no doubt be very interested if Levi Colwill was made available for offers this summer.

Sadly, the likelihood of such an eventuality coming to pass appears slim at this current point in time. Even despite Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reporting on X (formerly Twitter) of ‘initial talks’ starting with Bayern Munich over a move.

Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that Chelsea’s position on their star defender remains unchanged ‘despite interest from several top clubs’.

Given the Reds’ well-documented prior interest in the Englishman, one would have to imagine Arne Slot’s outfit would be joining the queue if anything changed in that regard.

Who is Levi Colwill and what positions does he play?

The No.26 is a Chelsea academy product who plays at centre-back for the Premier League outfit.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion loanee is a versatile defensive option who can play at left-back but features primarily on the left side in central defence.

Following a productive loan spell on the south coast, Colwill has featured 32 times (across all competitions) under Mauricio Pochettino in 2023/24.

The Southampton-born footballer’s current terms are set to expire in the summer of 2029. It’s believed that Chelsea have also agreed an option to extend this by a further year beyond that.

At 21 years of age with bundles of potential at his disposal, it’s fair to say Colwill would cost any interested party a pretty penny were he to be made available on the market.
