Newcastle could beat Liverpool to two transfer targets as medical tests ‘officially booked’

Liverpool fans will be hoping to see some movement on the club’s front after missing out on reportedly admired target.

Links have, admittedly, died down in recent months around Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and a potential switch to Anfield.

Newcastle United have since swooped in and appear to have landed the 25-year-old ahead of the summer window, with medical tests officially booked, according to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter).

In the meantime, whilst Liverpool figure out their impending moves in the summer market, fans can pay a visit to Outplayed to get leading advice on how to get the most out of bookie free bets. With the European Championship right around the corner in Germany, supporters won’t want to miss out!

The summer transfer window is set to open for Premier League clubs on June 14 and close on August 30.

Newcastle could also beat Liverpool to James Trafford

Burnley No.1 James Trafford could also be Newcastle-bound judging by the latest spate of reports.

“Newcastle are advancing on a deal to sign James Trafford from Burnley. They have an agreement with the goalkeeper on personal terms, and they are working on a new bid in excess of £15m after their first proposal was rejected. Trafford has already said yes to the move,” Fabrizio Romano wrote for the Daily Briefing.

We will need to seriously consider goalkeeper incomings should Adrian opt to return to his homeland as reports suggest is a distinct possibility.

It’s also worth considering the fact that No.2 Caoimhin Kelleher will likely jump at any opportunity to be a No.1 at another club – should a serious offer arrive in Liverpool’s inbox.

What move are Liverpool likely to make next?

The word from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is that a new centre-back will be the club’s transfer ‘priority’ in the coming summer window.

Even with Kelly potentially off the table, however, there are still plenty of names we could quite reasonably pursue.

Leny Yoro would be a particularly ideal option whilst Real Madrid have committed to not moving for his services in the next window.

With PSG our main competition at this stage, we’d back Arne Slot’s Reds to win out in any transfer battle, provided the finances around any possible deal didn’t get too crazy.

A new forward is still likely

Even if coming a little later in the window, fans can still expect the Reds to consider options to bolster the forward line.

Mo Salah and Co. came under fire in 2023/24 for a perceived drop-off in output. Notably, in our final seven league games of the campaign, both the Egyptian King and Darwin Nunez struck the back of the net once between them.

If we’re to mount a successful title challenge in the years to come, we can’t be blanking to such a horrifying degree in an end-of-season run-in.
