(Video) Slot proven right again over big Liverpool call with what happened right before Diaz goal

Arne Slot will have been especially pleased with one specific moment in the lead-up to Luis Diaz’s goal to fire Liverpool in front against Brentford this afternoon.

The Colombian finished off a slick counterattack in the 13th minute, with the passage of play having stemmed from a Bees corner kick.

The ball was whipped dangerously to the edge of the six-yard box but Ibrahima Konate got above everyone to head it away, and from there possession broke to Diogo Jota to accelerate away on the break.

Of course, the Frenchman was introduced at half-time against Ipswich last week in place of Jarell Quansah after Slot bemoaned Liverpool’s inability to win aerial duels in the first half at Portman Road, so the head coach will be particularly delighted to be vindicated once more in this instance.

The Dutchman made a bold and ruthless call during the interval eight days ago, and the evidence since then shows that he was wholly justified in doing so.
