Luis Diaz applied the finishing touch to a simply sensational counterattacking move, giving Liverpool an early lead against Brentford at Anfield.
The Bees had a corner in front of the Kop in the 13th minute but Ibrahima Konate did well to win the ball in the air and set in motion a scintillating move.
Diogo Jota and the Colombian had acres of room ahead of them from the halfway line and the Portuguese attacker slipped a perfect pass into our number 7, who kept his composure and lashed a shot past Mark Flekken and into the roof of the visitors’ net.
It was quite the way for Diaz to score the first official Anfield goal of the Arne Slot era!
