Brighton have signed Femi Azeez from Milwall for a fee “in the region” of £15m.
Ben Jacobs confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter) after the Seagulls opted not to disclose the precise terms of the deal.
Fabian Hurzeler’s men completed the transfer via deal sheet, taking advantage of the extended 1am deadline on Wednesday morning.
Has Femi Azeez been signed as cover for Yankuba Minteh?

Categorised as a right-sided (and left-footed) winger who can also provide cover on the opposing flank, it very much seems that Brighton have identified Azeez as a potential successor for Minteh. Or, at the very least, cover for the injured Gambian who looks set to be sidelined for the next seven or so weeks.

The 25-year-old, just like fellow new boy Zadok Johanna, is a left-footed right-sided winger. So Brighton, it seems, have at least made sure to hand Hurzeler the bodies he requires on the flanks to make a good go of European competition and their 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Brighton’s squad makeup indicates Minteh could be off in the near future
Just take a look at Brighton’s current winger options (when all fit):
- Kaoru Mitoma (LW)
- Ibrahim Osman (LW)
- Zadok Johanna (RW)
- Femi Azeez (RW)
- Yankuba Minteh (RW)
And that’s without taking into account the supremely versatile Diego Gomez, who plugged gaps in the forward line last term.
Liverpool still need to fix their overseas spots problem

Liverpool still find themselves at full capacity as far as overseas spots are concerned, having not moved on the likes of Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo or Federico Chiesa.
This will have to be addressed if the Reds wish to pursue Minteh again in the upcoming January transfer window. However, it seems unlikely we’ll look to move on our Greek left-back without serious cover available for Milos Kerkez. Plus, we could see a similar argument being made for Wataru Endo, who was selected for Andoni Iraola’s matchday squad against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
Chiesa seems the most likely option to make way, given his exclusion from the last matchday squads, but Liverpool have evidently struggled to find a willing suitor for the Italian. And, ultimately, there’s no indication that this will change come the winter window.
The Reds may just have to hope that Yankuba Minteh can hold on until the summer. That is, of course, assuming Liverpool’s recruitment doesn’t have their heads turned by a superior option on the market.
Otherwise, we’d have to say that it seems Brighton have signposted to the Reds that the Gambia international is up for grabs.

I’d rather wait until next summer and actually target a game changing rw instead of a stop gap
Except they didn’t sell him to Liverpool did they?
Exactly. Azeez was signed as Mitoma and Minteh are out til October at least.
I hope Hughes replacement brings in the right players the players that we need instead of who he wants to bring in
Exactly Stewart
Is olise untouchable. How much is he?
Chiesa is quite happy to stay at LFC given the wages he is on for basically never playing/LFC need to bite the bullet and offer him at a bargain basement price to move him on. Given that we did not buy a specialist number 6 (again – season 4 without one)…I would go for Yves Bissouma on a 1 year contract with an option for his contract to be extended depending on his performances. My comments on Jeremy Frimpong are well documented/he is not capable of EPL standard in any position let alone right back…I would play anybody there instead of him. YNWA
